Repair and Refurbishment

What if the worst happens?

Tungsten carbide is an amazing material for pottery trimming tools. It is incredibly hard, almost as hard as diamond, which enables these tools to keep their edges for a very long time, almost eliminating the need for sharpening.

Because of the hardness of the material, it is also brittle, and while this doesn't effect the day to day use of the tool, it means if they are dropped onto a hard surface, or bent with some over enthusiastic trimming, breakages can happen.

Don't panic!! I know the tool I make for you becomes a loved and important part of your creative process and I want it to last forever. If the worst happens I offer a repair and refurbishment service that will have your tool back in your hands as good as new. The service costs £34.50 including postage for the UK, contact me for international rates. Just send me a brief description and your details using the form below and I'll be in contact to get things sorted.

Once your tool arrives back in my workshop, it's stripped down and thoroughly cleaned, any damage to the handle is repaired and it receives a fresh coat of oil, the brass ferrule gets a good polish, and most importantly, the broken head is replaced with a brand spanking new one (you can even specify a different shape if you want). Then it's securely wrapped and sent back to you, usually within the week.
