Meet Fireside Clayworks

During a 15 year career working as a carpenter and creative wood worker, I took a pottery course at my local college and was hooked. This blossomed into setting up my own basic studio space, taking regular lessons and courses, and trying to find my own style. I quickly found that ceramics and woodwork share a creative space within me and I began experimenting with combining the two on a more functional level by making the tools I would use.

After turning numerous handles on the lathe in my workshop I settled on three core designs and made my first trimming tools. After some very encouraging reviews I opened my online shop and Fireside Clayworks was born earlier this year.

My aim is to produce beautiful and functional tools for professional ceramic artists and hobby potters alike and, with that in mind, I use a range of woods to suit all tastes and budgets. I am open to commissions and would be happy to discuss ideas.
